look what I can do!!!

Last year I met another mama at storytime at our local barnes and nobles...every wednesday I try to take the kiddo's to hear a few story and give me a break from the house. I always saw this super cute mama there with her daughter, and seriously, I've got to snap a pic of her so you can see her rockin haircut (I think of you everytime Lace!!) its like the perfect pixie. anyways! We started talking and eventually I found out she attends a small congregation here in chico, and her husband is the assistant pastor, they're a church that believes in the fruits of the spirit and believes in reaching the nations!! how crazy is that?!? I never ever meet people who are so on the same page as us...it was so refreshing...and then she mentioned that she attends a monthly crafty mamas night, where her and several others join at a friends house once a month for crafting and fun, and she invited me. Okay, you have NO idea what a blessing this was to me. I love crafts, and I love breaks from my crazy life. And I've so been longing for a friend who could just be my friend. Someone who already had a relationship with God and who understood my purpose in life as well as understood motherhood and loved crafts and sewing etc...just someone sort of like my friend Lacy...because sometimes I just miss that friendship so much it hurts...
So I went to my first crafty mamas last friday (yes, AFTER John was involved in a very serious accident..but he wasn't hurt at all and he insisted I go because I had been looking forward to it for soooo long) and it was three and a half hours of such fun and productivity. Here is the finished project...we used this blog for our example project. And then I used some wool felt and different fabric scraps to make my flowers and off we went crafting away!!! It was so much fun and felt so good to have the time to just accomplish something for once!!!
HAPPY SPRING!!!!

Mon petit

CHRISTMAS IS COMING! CHRISTMAS IS COMING! okay..I know we still have thanksgiving, and I do love thanksgiving..but nothing, NOTHING, steals my heart and soul so completely like Christmas. It embibes so completely the essence of joy, family and enraptured glee. I honestly get giddy just thinking about it. If it didn't drive John insane, I would listen to Christmas music year round. I kid you not. So psh to all you party poopers who can't stand us Christmas fiends...I'm starting Christmas postings baby!!!
Here's a fun twist on the advent calendar concept...

A baby sock advent calendar from my favorite jail bird :)

Mon petit chou

Are you as obsessed with fabric flower headbands as I am? I  mean, I am OBSESSED!! It's almost worth going to rehab for. Just kidding. But seriously, I'm hooked, and they're so so easy to make...this tutorial is one of the best I've seen...and you don't even need to know how to sew!! Use a glue gun (wanna know something stupid, I totally just spelled glue, glew, and then wondered what was up with the squiggly red line under it...man I need sleep)

This picture isn't from the actual blog, because she disabled the right click function. But Go visit it HERE! its incredibly crafty and will make you want to go out and make one right away!!!

CLOTHESPIN CHORE CHART

I think this would be so fun to paint a picture framed piece of cardboard in chalkboard paint then add velcro  to the board and to the backs of the pins...but check out the tutorial its really simple!!

Mon petit chou

Mmmmm....doesn't this sound like so much fun?! What a perfect little gift for someone special, just top it with some darling fabric edged with pinking shears, tie a printed gift tag on with some twine and voila..homemade and heartfelt, pumpkin pie for one :)

Just fill with your favorite pumpkin pie recipe and top with a stabilized whipping cream!! If you need a recipe, these are made with THIS RECIPE from everyday food by the amazing martha.

first bake em...
then frost em..

Then give them away :)
I think these would be great with some crushed graham or ginger cookies in the bottom...you think?

This is a darling little favorite of mine...recyled paper "seed packets". SO simple and fun. Can't wait to do this with Mailey and send them as birthday invites, or thank you's, or just for fun...or or...the possibilities are endeseless...I think it would be darling to put in a wedding invite...then everyone will have these living flowers to think of you every time they see them...I mean C'mon...HOW romantic and sentimental is THAT?!
